Equipment to be Loaded on the USS Dick Lykes

After the 36 hour train trip from Ft. Bliss,Texas to Beaumont, Texas the equipment had to be driven from the train yards to the docks at the port.  Wesley Jefferies, one of seven designated equipment guards, was also an equipment driver.  Look closely at the photo and you can see equipment still to be unloaded from the rail flat cars.  Note - There were several artillery battalion's equipment shipped together on the USS Dick Lykes
